As one of America’s oldest and densest neighborhoods, downtown Manhattan is a complicated place to navigate. Once south of midtown’s predictable urban grid, people land inside a tangled network of streets and pathways that grew spontaneously over centuries. Sylvia Harris assessed the site and developed a strategic wayfinding plan to help everyone – travelers, residents, and workers alike – move more comfortably through this historic district.
