New York’s state university system sought to create a greater sense of unity amongst its 64 campuses. To help achieve this goal, CitizenR&D assessed all aspects of the visitor experience at the Stony Brook campus, analyzing this site as a prototype for statewide standards. The wayfinding study recommends ways to enhance the campus's current nomenclature, signage, and mapping systems.

The campus has a wonderful graphics program in place designed by Milton Glaser.

Team studied all of the communications related to wayfinding.

Team documented current sign and information systems.

Team recommended new sign types and locations in a presentation to senior leaders.
